Task Group Taji V conducted the Advanced Marksmanship Training Course for members of the Iraqi Army’s 53rd Brigade at the Taji Military Complex near Baghdad Marksmanship instructors from Kilo One – TGT V drawn primarily from Support Company, 3rd Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment and the 1st Battalion, the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment are providing detailed instruction on basic marksmanship principles including grouping and zeroing, position and hold and adjusting for environmental conditions. Throughout the course, trainee development and understanding has been tested through a variety of shooting serials which have increased with difficulty throughout the course. The aim of the course is to provide the 53rd Brigade with a stand off engagement capability to counter sniper threats from Da’esh. At the conclusion of the course, qualified marksman will return to the 53rd Brigade to continue security operations throughout Iraq.
